Can Essential Oils Help?
Essential oils are not just used for top shelf perfumes and make-up, they also work on alleviating anxiety and depression. There are different types of essential oils, some of them can help make a huge difference to how you feel. A study published in the journal of AYMS/A and BASQ: An International Journal for Plant Sciences found that peppermint was able to reduce anxiety by 47%. That's a huge impact on peoples day to day lives. It alone may not fully resolve the issue surrounding anxiety completely, but combine the use of essential oils with opening up to people about how your feeling can make an even bigger difference.

How to use essential oils for anxiety and depression
One of the simplest and most effective things that you can use essential oils is to get an oil burner. The reason why this way is so popular, is the fact that you can heat the oil in a diluted form to quickly get the aroma around the house very easily. Just fill the oil burner with water, then place a few drops of essential oil and then use a tea light candle to heat it up so it turns it into a vapour that gets inhaled.
Another way to make use of essential oils is to place a few drops in your bath, but please do a patch test with the oil you would like to use to make sure you do not have a reaction. Certain oils have many benefits such as being good for the skin as well as assisting with anxiety and depression. You can even mix oils but do not use more than a few drops and please be aware the oils may make the bath more slippery.
You can also diluted the essential oils with Base Oils other known as carrier oils to be applied directly to the skin. The reason for this is that pure essential oils can be very powerful and the base oils can help the body absorb the oil blend more quickly. This can be done a variety of ways, but as you will need to mix the oils together it will require more time and effort when compared to the previous ways.
You would want to use around 5 to 6 drops of essential oil to 100ml of a base oil to be safe, however, this can vary depending on which oils you use. You can of course use a few drops of different oils which may have multiple benefits, just be aware this will have an impact on the aroma.
